Perhaps the most respected healing art in the eastern half of the world, T’ai Chi is a deeply relaxing and elegant system of synchronized breathing and movement. Its movements are derived from the self defense techniques of Chinese Kung Fu, but is performed in a slow, fluid, hypnotically graceful fashion.
Considered the secret to health, vitality and longevity in the Orient for centuries, its flowing and graceful practice is often called “meditation in motion”. In China it is practiced by millions, many of whom are well into their nineties, in order to remain youthful and disease-free. Scientific research in China has demonstrated that the practice of T’ai Chi has a dramatic effect on the practitioner’s immune system and has an overall strengthening and healing effect on a wide range of medical disorders from arthritis to hypertension.
